This term we are looking at the theme Creation and Covenant. Year 6 will exploring St. John's Gospel We'll dive into the second Creation story and learn about "The Fall." We'll also connect Jesus to the idea of a second Adam. We'll study the important role of women in the Old Testament and understand how Mary fits into the story of salvation. Additionally, we'll examine seven special things Jesus did (miraculous signs) and connect them to the seven important ceremonies in the Catholic Church (sacraments). Finally, we'll listen to the story of Jesus' suffering and think about how it can inspire our faith.
Our main topic is Evolution Explorers. We will look closely at Charles Darwin and Welsh explorer Alfred Russel Wallace. This topic will involve lots of local area study focussing on habitats, adaptation explanation writing, presentations, poetry and programming using Scratch. We will be reading Charles Darwin’s on the Origin of Species by Sabina Radeva this half term & Thornhill by Pam Smy. Next half term we will be reading Children of the Benin Kingdom
