Reading Books

Reading books are sent home to support children's reading development.

In the Early Years, Picture books are sent home for families to enjoy together and promote a love of reading.

When children are ready for reading books, they will receive a phonic reading book each week.  We ask that you support your child in reading this with lots of praise and encouragement.  Reading the same book more than once, helps children develop fluency in their reading, and deepen their understanding of what was read.  We ask that you try and read the same book, three times in the week.

Once your child has completed the reading scheme, they will be able to use the school library to select books to take home and read for pleasure! 

You can continue to support your child by listening to them read, encourage expression in their reading and asking questions.
